I have no idea what I’m doing

This thing posted some sort of cutsie welcome to my world message. That wasn’t from me. This one is.

I’m going to plan to blog now and then, probably more then than now, about things of interest to me…which, per the name of my blog, will include more posts about crochet, my reading habits, and my dogs than anything else. I’m sure my grands will feature pretty regularly.

This may end up being a replacement for my defunct daily drivel that I changed to occasional offal, but I only sent one of those. So it was more of a Never Again News Flash.

Now all I have to do is get used to this, use it, and figure out all the stuff like how to add photos.

So far, I’ve not notified anyone that I’m starting this.

Let’s see–
Crochet–getting elephants finished up to be mailed to Mikey in Canada for the CreativFestival. Gotta get that done this week. I’m working on more dishcloths and potholders, of course, and scarves, cowls, and hats. I have a couple of afghans on the hook, too, including a crocodile stitch baby afghan. I have no idea what I’ll do with that. I donated dishcloth/potholder combos to the Pom Club of Greater Des Moines to use for their first place per class trophies at last Friday’s show.

Books: Reading lots of things–Terry Pratchett, the McCaffreys (every time I call Mnementh’s name for any reason, I think of Anne and hope she’s watching and approving!), Deborah Harkness’s A Discovery of Witches (published early last year) and Shadow of Night (just published last month and I’m already salivating for the third in the series). Some light mysteries, Ngaio Marsh for the heavier mysteries. Some regency stuff, depending on the author. I want funny.

Poms: Harper double qed in rally today for one of his RAE legs. I’m not sure which one–guess I’d better check. I know it’s not title. 6th or 7th, I believe. Gotta also check with UKC about why they don’t have his rallyO titles right. I found the ribbons from spring 2011 K9 Sports Club (RO1 title) and 4RK9s (RO2 title). Then he got his first RO3 leg in Omaha in June or July of 2011, with his last two RO3 legs at K9 Sports Club this past spring, and his first double-q on Sunday at that trial. They sent me another RO2 title certificate with the Sunday date on it. Very weird. Mnementh is coming along nicely…I’m impatient with wanting new puppies to be able to absorb all the knowledge of my older dogs. Anthem is doing okay for the old man of the family. He’ll be 14 in October, and a lot slower than either Bubba or Nanner at that age (Tipper passed before his 13th birthday, so Anthem is more than a year past his dad in longevity). His only problems are some stiffness (a little spondylosis in the back, per his chest x rays from his $850 asthma attack this summer–the one good thing is that he’s small enough that a chest x ray gives us pretty much all of him) and the respiratory stuff that goes along with his human-type asthma/allergy issues. No licking of the feet for this boy’s allergies, no sir.

That’s plenty for a first time. Other than I’m having a great time with Kathryn. She is SO funny, and was so good and helpful Friday and Monday holding Harp’s leash while I was walking the course for his rally runs.
